The Flying Scot Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Now I am going to attempt to sort my Galaxy this weekend due to sluggish performance which has just started to happen over the last 2weeks. I have looked through alot of the posts on here and was just wondering in what order everyone would start to attempt the fix. Here's what I was planning.1. Check all vaccum pipes and replace if required(if I can find them all, any diagrams on here?)2. Check all pipes coming from EGR and make sure not blocked3. Replace MAF, i have ran my car with the MAF connected and dis-connected with no difference in performance.4. Have turbo cleaned Any other suggestions would be appriciated. Cheers Steve Quote
Mirez Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 i have ran my car with the MAF connected and dis-connected with no difference in performance. 1. Replace MAF.2. Replace MAF.3. Replace MAF.4. Replace MAF. There should be a marked difference between running the car with and without the MAF connected. If you have no difference then its almost certainly defective. Quote

The Flying Scot Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks for the replies, I have checked with the local fraud parts department for a cost on a new MAF and was quoted Quote
The Flying Scot Posted September 18, 2010 Author Report Posted September 18, 2010 Right I have changed the MAF with a bit of an improvement, pulls off fine upto about 40mph in 3rd then the turbo trips out, stop the car turn off the engine re-start all is fine. Would i be right in thinking it's the good old sticky vanes on the turbo. History of the car is it is only used for the school run and runnig round town. Quote

The Flying Scot Posted September 20, 2010 Author Report Posted September 20, 2010 Does anyone in the Derby area have any recomendations for a garage to carry out a turbo removal, clean and re-fit? And any idea on what this might cost me? Quote

Cheers Steve before you do anything check this first...unscrew the turbo boost pressure sensor on the turbo inlet pipe held by two star head screws and lift up and of and look for oily sooty deposites on the cone theres a small pin inside can get blocked..if i looks dirty in any why blast it with wd40 and shake the bejezzuz out of it to get rid of any access fluid, put it back in and drive your car, if the cars ok then thats your problem, you wont get to far because you will lose power again...the part from a dealer is Quote
The Flying Scot Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Does anyone have any pictures for the location of the pressure sensor? Quote
