I have a 98 galaxy that has recently started to feel it lacks good acceleration and it has a slight misfire.

Thought of changing the fuel filter so the other question is, where is it? :)

It is a 2.0l version, thought ah spark plugs, but it does not have any :)

Only really noticed it since changing the air filter, but i'm confident that is fitted right, have taken it out and replaced several times, may just be coincidence. The fuel filter has not been changed in the last 4-5 years i,ve owned it.

Is it petrol? Then it HAS 4 spark plugs. Is it diesel? Then it doesn't have plugs, but has 4 glowplugs.

Change the plugs if it has them, get a VAG-COM diagnostic check done, change the fuel filter and check the MAF [look around this site for info].

Petrol.

I assumed where the leads were going in at the front were the equiv to spark plugs, are these the coils, and are the plugs located at the rear of the rocker cover then?

If i drive carefully through the gears it is fine, only if i accelerate through the gears do i get the misfire
