Guest rusty Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Hello All, Where is the clutch biting point (I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere). Mine is quite low and I am wondering if this is normal or a sign that the clutch is on it's way out. Regards Russell Quote
seatkid Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Maybe, what mileage? I wonder what the longest anyone here has gone before a clutch change... Quote
djacks42 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Drive along at 25mph, stick it in 5th and floor it. If the revs rise quickly but the vehicle speed doesn't, then it suggests clutch slippage. i.e it's may need replacing. Quote
Guest rusty Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Hi Now on 83000 but I don't when the clutch was last changed (if it has been). Regards Russell Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Hi, when I had my Mk1 Galaxy it was an ex hire car and the clutch went totally at about 60,000 miles, when I nbought it with 50k on the clock the biting point was fairly high on the high. However it should be low on a newish vehicle, I would suggest if its high then its getting close to need replacing, save up the Quote
