Difficult Switching Into First And Reverse Gear

Last week I had big problems to get my 2001 MKII 1.9 TDI (150000 km's) gearbox into first and reverse gear after starting the car for the first time in the morning. This happened on holiday in Italy on the moment that the car was parked all night on a slope, in a position that the car was tilted to one side. After 5 minutes of trying and :wacko: I managed at the end to get the gearbox in first and reverse. After a few minutes driving, there were no problems anymore. :(

Also after starting the car in the morning with a cold motor/gearbox with the car parked in a normal horizontal postion, I have no problems swithing to first an reverse. However, I always feel a little resistance in the beginning, wich always disappears after driving a few minutes. By the way, I don't hear noise of gears while trying to switch into first and reverse, I only feel a heavy resistance!

Does anyone recognize this problem and know how to solve this?
