hi guys just getting my gal all nice and spick and span just had a cambelt and water pump done, and now wanting to change oil when i was looking for oil filters on euro car parts and ebay they look rather strange not like oil filters ive seen in the past, my question is does it fit in some sort of canister type thing and is it still under the car or in front of engine near top as you look at it, as ive seen a cylinder type thing there god i hate not having a haynes manual im lost without it, anyone have any pics would help me loads cheers guys im not a complete numpty honest, really should just pull tray off and have a look i suppose, did only want to take it off the once though.

undo bonnet,and take off engine cover,and to the right of the engine you will find a cylinder(black)large spanner required to undo it.this is the oil filter housing.

cheers matey i thought it might be that, so need to learn about diesels i will go ahead and get a filter and oil now as in service history last service was done at 122,000 and is now 142,000 cambelt was done 100,000 miles and i was bricking it with that still i have peace of mind now.

I am about to change mine also. does anyone know where you 2 O rings go (1 large the other very small) ?

Both go on the filter housing, specifically the bit you unscrew. The large one seals the screw top and the housing. The little one seals the bottom of the screw top to the canister flow (on the end of the stalk basically)
