Red Key ?

Hi, could anyone help please.

 

Do the 'T' 'V' or even newer reg 1.9 TDI galaxys require a special ignition key, we had an R reg and were told to look after the RED key as it cost a fortune to replace from ford, but I can't remember what it was for.

 

We're now looking for another galaxy only a bit newer, but a seller told me the other day that he hadn't got and didn't think they had a RED special key anymore. Whilst the colour obviously doesn't matter is there still a special key that we should ensure is present before buying the car and just what on earth does it do?
