donkeyporge Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Hi, would anyone have a parts diagram for the Front Wiper Linkage? Drivers side wiper stopped working and when i went to investigate i found a link ball had popped out of its socket. i tried to get this to 'pop back in' to no avail. i had to remove the 'ball' part with a dremel as the nut was seized and ball heavily corroded and drill a hole through the plastic 'socket' part on the bottom rod to enable me to put a bolt/washer combo through as a temp fix. I don't want to replace the whole unit as it's just this one link i need to repair? Is it possible to just replace these parts?Kind Regards,George 1997 MK1 1998CC Galaxy Quote
marinabrid Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 you cant get that part of the linkage alone the robdogs make you buy a new assembly, most folk tend to do a makeshift repair, i did same drilled a hole through, i simply used some heavy duty wire twisted through the hole, done the job now for 2 years and snapped once, i keep a bit of wie and a pair of mini cutters on board for a roadside repair. sparky Paul Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 As marinabrid says, the bits aren't available and most people make a makeshift repair of some sort. Alternatively, you could look on fleabay for a secondhand wiper assembly for replacement, or donor parts. Your car should have the early wiper assembly with four mounting holes, which is easier to find secondhand - a quick check shows several selling for Quote
Mirez Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 There ya go: Thats the only bits you can order for the mechanism, as the guys above have said you can make long term temporary repairs or source another -_- Quote
donkeyporge Posted August 5, 2010 Author Report Posted August 5, 2010 Thanks for your replies guys. I was afraid it would be something like that.i'll keep my eye on it and refurb it when i find a reasonably priced linkage unit. Really appreciate the help guys. No doubt I have loads more questions in the near future. Kind RegardsGeorge Quote
