Hi All,

Britax website states that Sharan and Alhambra had ISOFIX since 1998.

The Galaxy is not listed.

Does it have ISOFIX??

Would seem strange not to as seats all come fron the same factory!!

Not sure about the spec of ISOFIX, but on my previous (97) Galaxy I used a Britax child seat fixing kit which had two standard anchor points. These contained two longer than standard seat bolts and spacers (stepped cylindrical sleeve/washer) that the belts fitted over. I had to dismantle the plastic sides of the seat to fit it, but it fitted in OK to the seat belt anchor points at the lower back corners of the seat.

I still have the box and it says on it "For use with existing ECE R.14 car anchorage points only" The kit was called the Britax Freeway Fitting Kit KTG4000/U, Halfords Part No 427 377.

It's been stated on another post that the Galaxy does come with ISO FIX mounts, Ford have always seemed to push the option of the integral child seat rather than the ISO FIX system like VW, they did or still do a series of childs seat for their cars, the Galaxy included! its shown in a couple of the early sales brochures I have, and very stylish it is NOT! brown and beige fuzzy material

I have seen a set of seat from a Sharan in a breakers and from memory the ISO FIX brackets on the seats are rather large and sit either side of the seat, inboard of the recliner pivot, they appear to be similar in design to the seat to floor mounting system and rather solid in there construction!

I know that someone said that his Galaxy had got ISOFIX connectors, but I've no idea what I'm looking for to determine if it's true.

Ford Customer Relations (fwiw) categorically state that the Galaxy does not have ISOFIX connectors - hence my confusion!

If I knew what I was looking for it would make life easier - but I don't want to splash out on a ISOFIX carseat if it won't fit.

I've looked on the Britax website and it doesn't list the Galaxy there - just the CMax and the Tourneo Connect, whereas both the Alhambra and Sharan are listed.

Here is some info from the Seat Alhambra user manual that you might find useful. When I get home I will check to see if the 2 seats without integrated child harness have Isofix anchorage points.

The following comes from Which?

Which? also highlights that ISOfix, the universal child seat system, that has taken the car industry 10 years to develop, is inadequate. The few ISOfix seats available are vehicle specific and use only two anchorage points, below and behind the adult car seat. But in tests the ISOfix seats tend to overturn.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just swapped a seat base to get Isofix on my mk2 galaxy, got a middle seat from an Alhambra for £15 from a scrappie, now got an offside middle leather Captains chair with isofix

Solid. Try and move it and the car shakes!

Bairn due in 4 weeks and I'm using the recaro base and young profi plus, car is a 2001 2.3 auto ghia.

maybe if you type breaking alhambra you might get some results?

try adding : removable

seems to lower the hit count to the hundreds, also filter on vehicle parts and accessories to exclude the cars themselves. You could also try adding isofix, though it didn't help when I tried it!
