Robin Bassett Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Picked up an 09 Galaxy @.0 TDci at the weekend and yesterday driving up to London with external temperatures of 32 degrees outside we find the aircon is in fact blowing hot air and not cold on all temperatures of the climate control. Dealer apologised and thinks it needs re gasing. Our previous car (a Seat Altea XL) we had for 2 and half years and it never needed re gasing and it was an 07 model so is this a common fault with the Mk3? Responses much appreciated. We are off to Wales in a couple of days time so had to arrange our locally to fix the issues and then we get the cost reimbursed by the dealer we bought it from - do hope that transaction doesn't screw up. davetech Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 My 2.2 TDCi (22 months old and 10k miles) was doing the same; ie not cooling at all. Took it to the main dealers to have it repaired under warranty. 60 quid later (of course the gas only has a 12 month warranty), was told it just needed re-gassing. Was given advice that all cars need re-gassing every couple of years. No answer when I questioned how the Peugeot 406 I owned for 12 years never did, and the 9 year old BMW (140k miles) I use has never been re-gassed. Quote
hotleaduk Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Had a aircon issue with my Mk3 Galaxy, dealer re-gassed but it lasted only 1 days. They took it in again and found the aircon pipe to rear was leaking. Had to wait a week for parts to arrive.Replaced under warranty when car was 13 months old and all is well.Perhaps you may have a leaking pipe. Quote
Dick Dastardly Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 I thought the air con in our 10 plate 2.0lTDI was broken as it was so bad and took it back to the dealers. They checked it and tell me it's working fine.So apparently they are just BADmy 11 year old zafira air con works better and has never been "regassed" etc pretty poor I thought Quote
b318isp Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 There is a service request issued by Ford to cut back the rubber grommet that seal the floor pan at the rear of the car where the two pipes go to the rear evaporator. This grommet has a skirt on it which can rub off one of the pipes making a groove and causing it to fail. To see this, look under the rear of the car and you will see two aluminium pipes passing into what would be the spare wheel well. Pipes are around Quote
