JVelle Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 I experience a "clunk" noise when shifting gear and releasing the clutch. If I do this carefully I can avoid this.It sounds like it comes from the gearbox or might the shafts. Is this a known problem on the Galaxy (2007-mod.)? JV Quote
Bigjeeze Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 It could be a n umber of things - Possibly engine mountings, or even worse the dreaded Half shaft problem. How many mikes has the car done? Quote
JVelle Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 The mileage is only 30000. (48000 km)It sounds like some slack in the transmission. It is becomes more noticeable first after a couple of miles. Like something that hasto be heating up first?I had to replace the drive shaft on the right side a month ago, the inner knuckle joint wasdamaged due to entrance of water (according to the garage people where i bought it). Theyreplaced it with a shaft from a 2006mod. Galaxy they had for sale. The mileage was appr. the same (they claim !?) JV Quote
gregers Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 mmm i would suggest you take it back to them. Quote
lvgal Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I get the same issue with mine, its only done 4500 miles. There is also a very fine vibration that can be felt through the pedals, steering wheel and gear lever. In fact it's so fine that the ford mechanics cannot detect it, but my kids can. My previous 57 plate galaxy had the same transmission clunk. I just thought it was standard issue! Quote
