v6power Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) Hi, I have just purchased a Galaxy 04 130 Ghia. The alloys on it are branded "ford" but I havent seen them on any other. Does anyone know what or where they came from?? Also, what is the difference between an 03 model and an 04?? Mine states March 04 reg, but 03 build?? Taade Edited July 2, 2010 by v6power Quote
insider Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 There are the standard factory fit wheels which most models have but you could order different wheels as an option (or even have them fitted later by the Dealer). In your case whoever originally bought the car decided to pay a bit extra to have the different wheels! The fact that your car was built in 2003 and registered in 2004 is not unusual. It had just been sitting in storage waiting to be sold. Quote
v6power Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 I thought that might be the case, I have just never seen them before. Is there any difference between the 03 & 04 model, it's just that I have noticed a few adverts for parts showing 00-03 model? Thanks for your help though Quote
Mirez Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 It was "refreshed" during the 03/53 period - there were a few cosmetic changes but thats it with the biggest difference being the front grill. Quote
v6power Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 Thanks, so is mine last of the old or first of the new? Sorry for being dense!! Quote

Taade Looking at your photo it seems you have the 17" Ford 5 spoke rims that were standard fit to the Ghia Elegance model, which was a blinged up special edition with leather, media, and wheels that don't pit like the shiny diamond cut rims fitted to the standard ghia spec. v6power Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 I guess you are spot on as I have leather & media as well. They are 17" and are branded Ford. It just seems odd that I work in the motor trade and have never seen them before?? Quote

It just seems odd that I work in the motor trade and have never seen them before?? They are few and far between. I looked for 6 months before I found one searching e-bay and nationally on auto trader before finding the right one, forcing me to buy my first car ever from a garage in 20 years of owning cars (from a Ford dealer as well.) Got the right deal on my old galaxy, they had three in which all sold in one weekend. They are all fitted with 130hp power unit also. The wheels are more robust and larger than the standard 16" ghia rims albeit I might change them for a set of 18" RS4 alloys. Edited July 5, 2010 by torvil Quote
v6power Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks for the info. I guess I just struck lucky then!! I took it in part exchange at the Mercedes garage I work for and bought it for my wife. It is a lovely thing and was a demo at the local Ford garage for the first 3 months of it's life then sold to a "man of the cloth" (honestly) who I took it in from. Happy days!! Quote
