Guest Murdock Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Can anybody recommend a good FM modulator? Quote
Davetheref Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 I've just bought a wieless one on my holiday to the states from Radio Shack. Cost me $29 ( Quote
Davetheref Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 The web page for the item ishttp://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...ct%5Fid=12-2053 And they do ship international, you just have to email them first. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Hi Murdock try the following http://www.mp3playerstore.com/buy_it_now__...cd_player.htm#7 Quote
seatkid Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 "Welcome to Radio Caroline - broadcasting offshore located 20 yards from the toilets at Leicester Forest East Service station....." Quote
Davetheref Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Also found a good uk site.http://www.allcam.biz/products/portable_dvd_accessories.html Modulators with car adapter Quote
seatkid Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004  Is my humour so hard to understand? Thought only the wife had that problem... :( Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004  :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( Eh You been having to much Caffiene ? Quote
seatkid Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 You been having to much Caffiene ? Wine maybe.... May I explain my joke for all you Galaxbies. FM Modulators can have range of up to 50 metres (under good conditions several hundred metres) hence the pirate radio joke haha? Occassionally when the weather is exceptional, FM radio can go great distances - on 3 or 4 occasions I've picked up italian and other european stations on FM in yorkshire......or maybe that was the guy in the galaxy parked over by the toilets... :) Me tinks Fm modulators are (strictly speaking) illegal - no flames though I aint bothered. Thinks I'll have a coffee after all. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 You one of them Hams ? or a Tony Blackburn pirate Quote
Davetheref Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Sorry Seatkid. I did understand your joke and I thought I was being clever with the comment back as I have a very dry sense of humour. looks like I shot myself in the foot.As far as your comment about whether its legal or not. Didn't realise there was potentionally a problem using these things. I will have to check with a copper mate of mine. P.s. I am old enough to remember Caroline the first time round. Quote
Guest Murdock Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Thanks Guys, I took a look at the links and spotted the fatal flaw with Alarm mans FM modulator, it broadcast on 88.3 and 88.7 both are the same frequency at Radio 2 in my area. Do you think if I ask them nicely they would move? I pay my licence fee after all. Davetheref's looked better but after a quick listen to the car stereo i've found my local boom boom boom pirate radio station on that frequency, (does anyone remember songs with words in them or am I showing my age?) I think Radio Shack is my best option, shame Tandys ceased trading. Maybe i'll try Maplins. I've also logged a question about central locking that one of you guys may be able to help with, Why not have a look? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Ah yes, Tandy - anyone know what happened to them? They were taken over by Carphone Warehouse and our local Tandy became a Carphone Warehouse shop for a while then IIRC closed down. Did all Tandy shops suffer the same fate? Seems odd for Carphone Warehouse to have bought them if this is all they did. Quote
Guest Murdock Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Both my local Tandys disapeared over night just like the magic shops in Terry Pratchetts Diskworld series, is 'L' space to blame? I now prefer to get my electrical supplies from Maplins. http://www.maplin.co.uk Cheap (ish) and good advice as well. Quote
