Fuel Gauge Problem

Hi all,

I have a 2000 2.3 auto ghia x. When i fill my car right up with fuel the fuel gauge shows a fall tank of fuel but on the trip it only shows about 270 miles worth of fuel. For some reason when i first got the car it would alsways show around the 415 miles mark.

Has anyone got any ideas plz. :)

my 1999 2.8 is the same but if i go for a long run it then goes up alot, the trip comp just dont like short runs
