Zetec Suspension

hi had my new mk 2 1.9tdi zetec a few days now could you guys tell me is suspension is harder on a zetec model, my dad said when he bought his focus many years ago dealer told him it had firmer suspension on a zetec model, he maybe right must admit a much more plated feel at high speeds just bumpy going over the hudreds of speed bumps where i live.

I think the short answer is "no".

 

the only model of this three branded model that has firmer suspension (and from about 2003 usually 17" wheels) is the SEAT Alhambra SE/Stylance Mk11

thanks for that might have to look into that then, my old mk 1 2.3 was a lot more of a comfortable ride than my new one i did change rear shocks and drivers side front and droplinks, but new one is a lot harder ride its handles like a sports car but own a sports car and like a more comfortable ride, new car has 16" alloys with 55 profile tyres against old with 60 profile tyres and 15" wheels its the only real diference i can see but not to cause such a firm ride, other thing car is fitted with tow bar maybe has harder springs on rear maybe just a thought will get under and have a look when i get a chance to got to fit new droplinks as one has play according to a receipt i found for a service cheap as chips for a pair and a doddle to change, done most of suspension parts on my old bus a few months ago including the nightmare top mount.

You are comparing the MK1 suspension to the MK2 suspension.

 

Yes it changed with the MK2 and got better, feels more like a normal car than the MK1 I drove.

 

The MK1 I drove was very comfy and could not feel the bumps in the road but my goodness, going around corners at speeds I was used to was hair raising!!! :unsure:

thanks for that i wont be looking at buying new suspension then must say the high speed handling is 10 times better its just all the speed humps and really bad roads where i live thats getting on my nerves, still early days only had new bus a week or so hopefully get used to it just going to replace front droplinks might even have a dodgy topmont pas side that might need changing yet see how it goes.
