My Ford Galaxy 2.3 GLX is poorly, and I keep getting different advice as to how to cure it, I recently drove 500 miles and it returned 12mpg (it would normally achieve 30mpg on a run like that I did a steady 60 - 65mph on Motorways for 41/2 hours down then a similar speed back apart from traffic.

I have done the following:

1: Replaced Maf sensor (twice)

2: Replaced Spark Plugs

3: Replaced Coil Packs

4: Replaced Lambda Probe (Oxygen Sensor)

Has anyone any sensible suggestions. The car has otherwise been great I have put 100,000 miles on it in 3 years and until this it has not missed a beat.

Could be the the ht leads if one is broken .. check the ohm's ,On the leads they often say the ohm's so check resistance with multimeter

however i think its probably a cat problem though check the lead to cat bend the pins slightly and reconnect .

Car cured now, however it is difficult toput my finger on exactly what caused the fault in the first place.

The car has done 180,000 miles and had been virtually trouble free up to this point.

I fitted

1. 2 New Coil Packs (

If it was running as rich as you said, you should change your oil as it will now be heavily contaminated with unburnt fuel.
