Mk 1 And Mk 2 Rear Brake Calipers

Hi all

 

Just wondering if the Mk 1 and Mk 2 rear brake calipers are interchangeable. Have a leaking seal on the rear NS caliper and the local scrap yard only has Mk 1's available.

 

Or has anyone changed the caliper seals on a MK 2 rear NS caliper? The seal that is gone is the one behind the spring / bolt infront of the handbrake cable mechanism as shown in the attached.

I asked the same question a few weeks back and was told rear MK2 and rear MK1 calipers are the same - bar the 2.8 VR6 calipers. So a caliper from a 2.0, 1.9tdi, 2.3 and 1.8 20VT (not missing any engines am I?) should work from what I understand <_<

righty Mk1 and Mk2 are interchangeable but the Mk1 cailpers have a longer brakehose and the mount on the Mk1 caipler is slightly different. Therefore if you are going to use a Mk1 caliper on a Mk2 Galaxy remember to take the brake hose too. ;)

oops better clarify - The mount I refer to in the previous statement concerns the brakehose NOT the caliper itself
