Being as we've has such nice whether i thought i'd clean my car (Very unusal activity i assure u) hoovering around i discovered under each seat a small cubby hole covered by some carpet! What does this normally get use for in other cars and can i use if for a phone kit?

I also noticed two blue 15amp fuses, what are they for i wondered (Anyone know?)

This lead me to think about getting some technical manual for my new toy (The Galaxy in case u wondered..) so what are people using? Is the Haynes manual any good or is there something better and if so what is it and where can i get it???

and how long have you had the vehicle for before you found these cubby holes? on a few models its used to store the second battery under the drivers side, in the passenger side on earlier models it where you will find the central locking/alarm/global closure ecu, the one thats prone to getting wet if the scuttle drains block! and on the later models the front parking sensor ecu and sounder is mounted in here

the two 15A fuses are most likely for the two rear power outlets in the boot, the Haynes book would help as would the TIS cd, both can be a great help when it comes to dismantling your pride and joy :D

there is also a fuel pump inertia switch as well if its a petrol version . so if you do decide to put anything in there be carefull you don't knock it or restrict access to it it can some times be sensitive

whats a TIS CD? where do i get one?

what is a scuttle drains, where do i find it and therefore make sure it dosn't block?

makes sense for them to be the fuse's for the rear power outlets so thanks for that.

and it's raining again  so i'll just have to stare at it through the window

try EBAY Galaxy parts on Ebay

they are located under the bonnet, look where the wiper mech is, now to either side of that about where the front wing meets the the A post there should be two small holes to allow any water gathered in this region to drain out of? if you have two sponges stuck in this area the drains are behind them! the sponges are there to filter the debri out and allow the water to drain freely! you may need a torch to see the drains properly as it is a bit dark under there!

If you are going to pick up a TIS off eBay, a word of caution

I've just got the 2004 version for my C-Max and it's only got the Galaxy 2000.75 model on it (along with all the other Ford cars, obviously) so if yours is an earlier model then you will need an earlier version.

The good news is that the older ones are cheaper.

The eBay listings usually have a list of what models are covered

First thing to do when you get it is to burn yourself a couple of copies! for back up, if like me you drop it, scratch it, or lose it :) you have another one to stick in the drive when you need it

explore every file on the disc! a lot of people miss out on loading the service sheet generator! usually in disk1

it takes a while to learn your way round and find out anything of any use to you :) but spend a bit of time just looking arund and you will soon be finding out what you want when you need it
