Welcome from me too - from experience I would also suggest you seek out an aircon specialist and stay clear of main dealers for aircon work!

879...this doesn't help but I have the same problem...

I've been running it for 30 minutes a month through the winter (sure I read that in hee somewheres...), but using it this weekend just gone, it didn't seem to cool down as much as it did...

According to previous postings, the output of the aircon gets colder as the ambient temperature gets hotter. Hopefully later in the year it will feel as cold again. I thought the same this weekend so I got out the thermometer to check but it's within range.

Had mine on all weekend, always have electronic thermometer to check.

Was pumping out about 9c which was within range. Problem is that large glass area does make this car very warm.

Here is some info I posted in an earlier thread. Hope it helps

So that I can monitor my air-con performance I rang round several SEAT dealerships with various results. Eventually I managed to get a chart faxed to me with the recomended temps and test instructions.

Make sure Vehicle is out of sunlight. Set blower to No 4 and dial to coolest. Close all vents apart from centre 2 face vents. Run the Engine at 2000rpm. Insert thermometer in left centre vent and engage AC. Temps should be in following range.

Ambient temp Output temp

18 8-12

20 7-11

25 6-10

30 5-9

35 4.5-8.5

Having dual zone aircon, it seems to me that the air coming out of the vents in the rear is far cooler than the front. I guess there are two aircon units in my Gal. Have yet to approach my main dealer for advice, it will depend if the aircon is covered under my 3 year warranty. Any clues??

Yes there are two evaporators one in the front and one in the rear heater unit, but there is only one condensor and compressor provideing chilled refridgerant for the whole system! why the rear unit is colder than the front is a strange one! the pipe run is a lot longer and is open to the atmosphere where it runs under the car to the rear heater!

I have dual aircon and the air is about 3 to 4 degrees warmer in the roof vents than in the front. Sounds as though you may have a problem developing there.

The aircon should be covered by the three year warranty but they may not do anything unless there is a complete failure of the front system. It's probably worth enquirying with your dealer as they don't mind fixing under warranty as they still get paid for the work.

I've recently purchased a second hand Galaxy (T Reg) 1.9 TDI. My air con starts off fine, but after about 15 minutes it seems to stop working. The Air con specialist can't work it out ( he thinks it might be that the system/ECU thinks the engine is overheating and then discharges the excess heat to the cooling system). Another feature that seems to be assocaited with this is that one of the cooling fans always comes on and runs for about a minute after turning the ignition off, even if the engine hasn't been running. Ford spend 4 Hrs looking at it and have suugested and new ECU (or is it PMU) @ 435 quid + vat and labour and then they say they can continue testing.

Any help and advice would be appreciated <_<

I would have thought that the rear air con would be colder as it only works in recirculatory mode. It sucks air in from the floor and blows it out through the vents. The front air con usually works with fresh air from outside, unless you set it to recirc.

I had a company car galaxy (new model) and only ever had problems with the aircon, leading to a replacement compressor being fitted, not too bad as the company paid for it.

Just bought a 2001 replacement and guess what - the aircon has gone again. Again a new compressor is required at

Flashing display just means that there is a fault - if you know a new compressor is needed, then hopefully this is what it is telling you. Are you covered under a 3-year warranty?

Car is now 3 years and 3 months old

As for the flashing - it wasn't there when the ford dealer gave the aircon a check yesterday - I assume that the coolant has been emptied or the condensor (not the compressor as I said earlier) has been disconected?????
