lobbslobb Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Hi all, hope you can help. I'm suffering a loss of power with my 1997 2.0 Ghia Galaxy. It appears to be some problem with the MAF, when it's connected the car stalls/judders, when removed it runs ok but with a lack of power (can only do about 30 mph up hill). The other related problem is that 1 of the small pipes (not very technical I know) keeps coming off, at either end, and it seems to be a build up of pressure making this happen. Does this mean the MAF needs cleaning/replacing or is it likely to be something else? The engine sounds fine, not running loud or anything just gushing noises from the pipe that is disconnecting. Please help ! :) Quote

Excellent thanks, I'll try and get a torx screwdriver and give it a go. Is this what's leading to the pressure build up then? Quote
lobbslobb Posted May 29, 2010 Author Report Posted May 29, 2010 My main problem now seems to be the small pipes (pair of 2 running just of the bottom of the engine), one keeps coming off if revs get above 3 or 4k. Please help, they do this even if the MAF is not connected Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 I think it would be most productive to forget the MAF until you can resolve this pipe problem. You need to identify it's size and start and end points before any can help much. Also, it is assumed that yours is the 90bhp unit, can you confirm please? Quote
