credless Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Hi I have a '01 MK2 Gal LX 6 sp with 90 hp ANU engine. - 95k miles. Since yesterday the engine seems to want to run on after i turn off the ignition and dies with a shudder that shakes the whole car. Runs fine otherwise and idle speed is steady at approx 800rpm. Any ideas ?? is their a fuel shut off solenoid or other device to kill the engine on swithch off.?? PS - Fantastic site , has helped me loads with usual faults - Maf, Temp Sensor , Aux heater, Aux water pump, Blower fan resistor pack, drop links etc etc . Still great cars though!! Quote
big_kev Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Yes there is a fuel cut off solenoid.......not 100% sure of the position on your engine but on the similar MK1 model it is high up near the front centre of the engine bay. Should be easy enough to find.....look for the fuel line in and out. Quote

Thanks, found it - doesn't seem to be switching from what i can tell just by holding and listening.. - will check voltage to it tomorrow. Quote
