I have had the same problem and drove around for a couple of weeks hoping that it would start working or was a fuse or something. In my case it was a wire that comes from the body to the boot door at the top right that had broken due to fatigue of opening/closing. Its not difficult to join again - once you get the boot open.

 

My solution was to pull (or rip) open the trim (on the inside) and get my arm down to where the lock is. If you can manage this it is relatively easy to pull a lever and it will open as if you were using the key from the outside. The trouble is that you will almost certainly do some damage to the internal trim - but for me that was a price worth paying. Because you cannot access the screws that hold the trim with the door shut I think some damage is inevitable but perhaps someone has a better way - I would guess you could make a small hole with the right sort of saw.

Hi I had a problem with my 01 galaxy boot where it would not lock at all so had it replaced which cost

I recently had exactly the same problem & the solution was to replace the fuse that had blown. As a security feature if the central locking loses power then the boot locks so that e.g. just disconnecting the battery won't let you open up any doors.
