Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 (you're on your own, but if I hear a Gal horn in an otherwise quiet car park, I'll know who it is....) Quote
_dg Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Errr, your on your own :( I suggest you look for supermarkets on Roman roads, get a set of smaller hands, or replace the wheel with a Playstation control pad. :( I used to have a similar problem in other cars with a centre horn, but not now. My problem is the opposite, I can never find the small oddly placed horn buttons in time to give granny a hoot when she has just cut me up. I poke the centre of the wheel everywhere except where the button is. Quote
iainkirk Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Errrr.... I sometimes have problems with unexpected horn, but somehow I don't think that's quite what you meant... :( Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 very embarrasing when parking at the supermarket! Is it the same for you Iain? is that why your wife does the shopping without you :( Quote
Dave-G Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 I often have the horn when I wake up  I have a MF wheel....yup its easy to accidently get the horn  There's more humour than usual here today... Quote
Guest rusty Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Hello, Whilst on the subject (sort of), does anyone know if a multifunction wheel can simply replace an ordinary one and work fully or is the a differet set up? I have a ordinary wheel with just the horn buttons on. TIA Russell Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Good luck if you're going to try upgrading - the UK option price for a MF wheel is around Quote
Richmond Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 very embarrasing when parking at the supermarket! Is it the same for you Iain? is that why your wife does the shopping without you  It gives you somewhere to hang the carrier bags. Warning squares all round, I think. Quote
rwtomkins Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 at risk of provoking more red squares - no, you're not quite alone, floz. when i first got my gal i used to have this problem: it happened when I was trying to look cool by twirling the steering wheel around with one finger behind the spoke. i learned that if you use the horizontal spoke you inevitably end up sounding an embarrassing blast on the horn half-way through the turn, so the trick is to use the diagonal spoke. the alternative of course in to use both hands, but then that takes you right back into red square territory... HJT Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 I get plenty of e-mails for tablets to help with the expected but non functioning horns    Ho hum there goes my first red square Howard Quote
Guest slimey Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I had that problem and took the fuse out until the next MOT. The fault was picked up during the MOT and was diagnosed as a faulty circular spring (?) in the steering wheel. As i remember, it didn't cost much to get fixed Quote
Marky Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 :( B) B) Haven't had and unexpected horn for ages B) :o :D Better speak to Howard about those tablets..... :D :D If nothing else they will assist with the shopping :D :D Mark Quote
MrT Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Never had that problem in my Gal but in a Cavalier I was following a police car in Winnersh and every time I moved the wheel the horn went off. He gave me funny looks. Quote
djacks42 Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Whilst not on the topic - does anyone else's steering-column height adjust lock slip? Maybe it's just a pinch bolt that needs nipping up? Quote
Dave-G Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Not content with horns.........nip's too now! :D Quote
Taliska Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Yes, I catch the horn on the MF steering wheel too... I just look around as if it were someone else that had done it. :D Taliska Quote
Richmond Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 I was following a police car in Winnersh Is that Winnersh as in 'Winnersh Triangle', a station announced on some of the trains i get home of an evening? Apparently it's just after (or before) Winnersh. If so, what is Winnersh Triangle? Quote
Richmond Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Yes, I catch the horn on the MF steering wheel too... Don't worry, I think that you can get some ointment for that. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 If so, what is Winnersh Triangle? I think it's so-called because it is a smallish triangle of land enclosed by motorways and railway line(s). Quote
