I have a 2002 2.3 Zetec Galaxy with manual air-con which seems to suffer from low volume of air flow from the centre/side air-vents. Even on fan speed 4 the flow of air is poor, even though the noise would suggest otherwise.

Fan speed 1 and you can just about feel something, speed 2 and it's slightly better, all in all very poor show....

Is this normal, should I complain to the dealer ? in the summer you have to drive around with the air-con/fan flat-out and even then it struggles to maintaine a reasonable temperature in the cabin.

I'd appreciate any feed back from non climate controlled owners (these have different heating/ventilation system).

I have a 2001 2.3 Zetec with manual air con.

It works fine but does take a bit longer than a car to cool because of the large area.

Do you set the air flow to recycle?

You should do this to ensure maximum cooling otherwise you are continually dragging in warm air.

I also switch on the rear air flow to help move the air around.

hi chromedome,

yes we use the recirc and rear fan, however the problem is the lack of air flow, not so much the temperature. Do your centre/side air-vents produce a good blast of air ?

thankx

Funny this, I was thinking of taking my 02 2.3 zetec to my dealer just a few days ago. It was a warm day and I too felt that the air flow was poor and the overall cooling effect not so good. I also get vibration on the clutch pedal when I have the a/c on - maybe it's caused by the extr load on the engine?
