I read lots of posts about this MAF sensor problem, but out of intrest what sort of syptoms occur when this is faulty ?

The problem on mine was put your foot down and it accelerated to about 3.5k rpm then went flat eventualy to about 5.0k rpm.

If you disconnect the MAF and run it and it runs better then the sensor is faulty.

People have talked about cleaning them but this is not permanent.

When mine was changed as soon as I drove off it left rubber on the road that was how notiable it was.

You did not say if the car is a diesel or petrol, as my detail above is for a diesel, don't know if the effect is the same for petrol.

Best of luck in your problem.

before:

engine vibration

rough driving at low speeds (at high speeds it runs fine)

more fuel consumption

less power

after replacement:

less engine noise

no vibration

more power and more mpg

smooth driving at low revs
