Hi

I have just bought a 2001 (Y reg) 2.3 Zetec Galaxy.

The second row middle seat has a lap belt that goes from left to right, but it also has a roof mounted belt that come over the right shoulder and into the buckle and it has another part that goes across you body and should buckle into the right hand side. However the problem is that there is no buckle in the right hand side of the centre sea. Where you would expect a buckle there is the lap belt. I could use the buckle for the passenger side seat but then they cant use there seat belt.

It is a very strange situation. Why is there a lap belt and a three point belt? Where is the buckle?

If I buy a spare buckle will it be easy to replace the lap belt with it.

I hope that makes some sense, any help or info will be very much appreciated.

there should be 2 buckles in the centre seat and no lap belt . im guessing the seats you ve got in your galaxy arnt original mk2 seats but some taken from a mk 1 then fitted to yours hence the 2 seat belts.

That kind of makes sense although the seat matches the rest perfectly. Do you know if it is possible to remove the lap belt and replace it with another buckle? I assume this would be cheaper than finding a whole seat with both buckles?

3 point centre belts were an extremely rare thing until 2003, so it sounds as if someone has either done half the job of adding the centre 3 point belt without completing the job, or has changed/swapped the seats before you bought it.

The centre seat with 3 point belt has a buckle on each side and no lap belt fixed to the seat (lap belt is part of main belt coming from roof) - see items 9 and 12 in pic attached.

The buckles are available from dealers. Ford part numbers for the buckles are: LHS F1120998 pre April 2001 at

very easy to do as long as you can undo and tighten a bolt. Look at other seats for how it fits on. Dealer wuold probably have to order the part in as I imagine it would be a very low turnover part.
