dalminty Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Hi All,I have a ford galaxy 2002/52reg 1.9 tdi auto, turning steering left to right has a creaky sound and vibration. If i turn the steering wheel slightly left to right the vibration sound goes.Ihave checked the alternator pulley by taking the tension off and it free wheels anti-clockwise.My alternator is a bosch 120amp. Am i checking the alternator pulley correctly?Could it be the power steering pump? Any suggestions Many Thanks in advance. Iam based in south east not scotland........... Quote
Richard gal Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Leave the belt tensioned, put small screwdiver into the alternator where the fan is, and CAREFULLY! test if it will move ONE way with a little resistants and not at all the other way, if so its OK, if it wont move without bending something it needs replacing... the problems only show on tickover usually.
