barachello Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Wife got into the car this morning, turned the key and nothing happened. So took key out, put it in again tried again, this time it started, and off she went. Arrived at petrol station, filled up, got in and same thing happened again, but again started on second attempt. Got home, rang me, and tried to start it with me on the phone, and nothing happened. I am now home, and engine is still not starting. It does not even try to turn over, there is a click in the engine, but not sure where its coming from. I can't hear the fuel pump or anything. All dash lights light up as normal, windows go up and down at normal speed. Tried Jumping the battery, but no difference. When the key is put in and turned, the red light in the door lights and then goes out. Car was fine yesterday, and last night. I am assuming it is electrical as it is not even making any attempt to turn over. Any one help ? Quote

barachello Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 ok thinks I have diagnosed the fault as the starter motor as when I had it out and wired it up to my other car, at first it did not spon, but after a few thumps with a hammer it started to spin slowly. Can these be reconditioned ? Quote
