Galaxy Ghia 2.8 Auto Questions

Hi

 

I have just brought a Galaxy 2.8 auto petrol 03 reg, its done 71,000 miles. does the car have a chain or belt, it has full service history but no stamp on cam belt page.

 

I got no handbook and know nothing about the car, does it have cruise control if so any info on how to use would be appreciated.

 

There is also a warning sign that comes on occasionally, it is in speedo next to 60km mark, it is an orange circle with an arrow at the end with a triangle inside with an exclamation mark inside.

 

any help much appreciated.

Hi Philip and welcome to the site, you have chains on the V6 so all good there just keep an ear open for rattles which might be the plastic guides breaking down - other then that it should go on for ever as its a solid lump.

 

Depends on the spec as to if you have cruise or not, its on the left stalk if you do

 

The warning sign is the ESP light - in other words you are either cornering too quickly or accelerating to briskly :)

On left stick there is a on/off switch and an res and set button on the end, the on/off switch lights up a dial on the rev clock the res and set button does not seem to do anything, any advise please as to how it works

Then you have it and its not working! Not had the V6, but the 2.3 was vacumme driven and I "think" the V6 is. Take a read here:

I've got a 52 plate v6 auto. My controls for the cruise control are on the steering wheel, not the stalk. The controls on my stalk are for the trip computer, but don't sound the same as yours. I think (IIRC) I have to press the '+' button (on the steering wheel) to maintain the speed I am travelling at. Haven't used it for a while though, so might be mistaken. Am taking our first holiday trip in it later this week, so am expecting to use it a lot!
