Towbar Wiring

I am wanting to fit a towbar to my galaxy. I am going to order the towbar from Towsure but I was going to purchase the wiring kit from Ford.

I have enquired with the dealer how much the kits are and was quoted

Try a search on the forum - various aspects of adding tow bar electrics have been covered. May be worth talking to a local tow bar electrics specialist (or asking your dealer who they would recommend) to get an idea of potential difficulties and how to overcome them.

I did it last weekend, dead easy, no problem, get the electrics kit from Towsure it has the special relay for the bulb failure system. If you need any help email me directly john@lincit.com (you need to fill out the anti-spam form) and I'll give you all of the details.

P.S. I couldn't find any pre-wired sockets in mine at all.

A friend of mine made me aware of the sockets as 2 of the taxi drivers who go to his garage have galaxy & sharon and have tow bars for their boats.

 

They were quit tough to find and are in the off side luggage compartment, very low down and as far back as possible. I almost gave up looking for them and started pulling wires on the light cluster to try and locate a point to tap in and there they were.

Thank god for that I thought I'd made a right prat of myself !!
