mk2sport Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Hi m8. Does your car bang when cranking and starting? Does it have poor drive take up when letting out the clutch? If so, looks like its on its way out. You can buy a solid flywheel conversion now from motor factors, saving Quote
andy936 Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 No there is a noise when engaging and disengaging clutch that doesnt sound like a release bearingim not sure if it could be a clutch pressure plate but if im gonna change the clutch ill change the whole lot-hyd cylinder and dmf too -did get the car up on some friends ramps yesterday but couldnt drain the box off as the plug are a special splined key - the security type with a nipple in the middle so ill try and get 1 from fraud monday yes gsf do a ready to go dmf and clutch assembly Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 I assume you want to change the oil to see if that will cure your problem? Otherwise you don't need to drain it to remove the gearbox. It is a tedious job and the Gearbox is very heavy but not really difficult. Quote
andy936 Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 yes i was gonna change oil first the problem is finding a correct key for the drain -HELP YES A SLIGHT NOISE WHEN TAKING AND RELEASING DRIVE Quote

With time, the vibration got worse especially under acceleration and there was a noticeable loss of power. If yours is on its way out, I suggest you get it looked at sharpish as I left mine and eventually had to replace the gearbox, driveshafts and complete clutch assy..... There was a warranty recall on this fault, but apparently it only applied to 130bhp versions for some reason ????? 2003 TDi Mk II 115bhp 150,000km on the clock Quote
