big_kev Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 The Aux heater on your model ( probably all Mk1's ) has no communication with the diagnostics system.....this is normal. Therefore you will not see the Aux Heater controller using vagcom or any other diagnostic tool plugged into the vehicle. The good news is that you do not have to worry about resetting it after repetitive flameouts etc. The problem with the rear blower may be caused either by the blower motor itself or its controller/resistor pack. Do you have automatic or manual heating ? Quote

Hi, thanks for reply, its automatic heating, ie digital control pannel, set the temp and off it goes, i'm sure i heard the aux heater last year kinda whiney turbo sound from rear of car but alas none this year :) Quote
big_kev Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 It could be one of several things with the booster heater......usually the glow plug is the favourite. The controller (hedgehog ) for the rear blower is identical to the one in the front and can therefore be swapped to see if the problem is the controller or the blower motor. Quote
