charley black Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Galaxy 2.3 Ghia WFOGXXPSSG4Y27151. I have two queries. both electrical. 1. Owners H'book states that Battery should only be replaced by a Silver Ca one, is this mandatory?? 2. Behind the fascia in the engine compartment is a small electric motor/pump in the cooling system which operates even when the ignition is switched off, and runs for ages. What is it's function? I believe it is affecting the serviceability/power of the main battery. I was originally advised that the noise it makes was attributable to the Aircon System. Pardon my ignorance. Quote
mk2vr6 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 1. yes due the deep cycle....... alternator specification........ cant remember why exactly but yes 2. after run pump used to circulate the coolant through the block and rad to eliminate hot spots forming, linked into the fans running, controlled by one of the engine/coolant sensors..... just how long is it running for? does it out last the fans? Thanks Super Member, My original Ford battery died and I was advised a Lucas 0753 would be OK, have used it for two years but now it's not holding the charge. Suppose i'd better get the correct one. The after run pump out lasts the fans by a good half hour, does it need attention? Quote
MrT Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) I think the run on pump is on a timer rather than temperature as mine will start on the ignition without the engine being started and cold and runs for some time. They get noisier as they get older and worn. Edited March 9, 2010 by MrT Quote
