Hello,

Newbie here and looking for some advice. My 2.3 Galaxy has developed a slight miss fire when low down the rev range (below 2k). It only misses for a second and then all is well. It ticks over fine, the miss fire usually occurrs for example when doing 30mph in 4th gear and then putting foot down, it will miss a couple of times and then go fine...

I have also noticed that it never starts 1st time without some throttle, so maybe this is related???

Its a year 2001.

Any suggestions as to what this could be???

Cheers,

Chris

PS - I searched and found a thread related to broken wiring under the DOHC cover but not sure if this was relevant....

had the same problem with a 98 gal 2.3 i once owned. it turned out to be one of the ht leads . when the revs were low it would misfire cos the car was producing less current to the plugs but as i revved harder, increasing the current the problem would go away. if i remember plug one and three s leads cost about 12 pounds but two and four have a black box on top of em which does the timing, a little like an old style rotor arm and they come in at about 60 pounds. sadly mine was one of the dearer ones. hope this is some help chief.
