rob shaw Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I have a 2007 diesel Ghia with 17" run flats. The Ford manual states that snow chains can only be fitted to 215/60/16 size tyres. But I can't find any run flats for sale in that size and I don't want to buy 3 regular tyres and carry a spare in the boot. Help ! Any suggestions? Quote

Hi Rob In my opinion I would not use Chains too much trouble in this country we don't get enough compact snow. You would be putting them on to get out of the side road, then have to stop to take them off to drive on the clear tarmac, and poss stop again to put them on just to go down a side road. You cannot use them on tarmac and above about 40mph. I have never used chains in 30 odd years of driving and don't intend to Radiotwo Quote
malcolm.dobell Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Assuming you need chains for Alpine roads, you could explore Spikes-Spiders or Autosock from the Roofbox company. My 04 Alhambra cant't take normal chains but Spikes Spiders have been fine. Used them at least twice in 12 years!!!! Quote
