Guest mondeoman71 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 My Mk2 97 Hatch alarm keeps going off when i lock it. I did the test i was told by a ford electrician, and it turns out that the metal wire that travels through the footwell is prone to moisture ingress therefore breaking it down internally that is at fault. Will i need a loom change, replace with another alarm ,ouch, or is there a quick fix? Please help as i cant lock my car!!!!name and address withheld! haha.LH Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I have read about this, but can't at present find the item concerning it, IIRC it's just a case of finding the loom under the carpet and splitting the outer sheaf off the loom, finding the wire concerned and replacing it, I also seem to remember something about it being where the loom passes over the hump in the floor that the seat is mounted to and it gets knocked/crushed when you get in and out of the car! but I could be wrong? Guest nimrod Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 IIRC there's a joint in the cable in or around the foot well that is the causeof the problem when it gets damp Quote
