seatkid Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Clutch not disengaging fully. Could be the driver, or master/slave cylinder, or even faulty clutch. Quote
Richard gal Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Gear linkage/cables loose at the gearbox top?... look under battery tray. Quote
seatkid Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 On second thoughts I think Richard may be right - gear cable problem. Quote
gman66 Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 On second thoughts I think Richard may be right - gear cable problem. If the cvable is loose etc, would this makeit feel soggy !!? also do you think the gear box is ok ?? Cheers Gary Quote

Cheers GaryYes as it will all become loose and gearlinkages need fine tuning to work spot on, if it is so then the gearbox is still ok. You may have to take off battery and tray to really see whats going on, of course it may also be an issue at the gear stick end, but less likely. Quote
chromedome Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Please remember that the battery tray supports the engine. Quote
seatkid Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Dont remove the battery tray or your engine will drop out!!!! Quote
Richard gal Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Dont remove the battery tray or your engine will drop out!!!! Eh?, mine had a black tray held in by four 6mm ish bolts, underneath there was a silver alloy casting with 2 big bolts at each side and a nut in the middle holding the engine, remember it well, due to grinding noise when accelerating on a left hand turn, it was this casting that hadnt been fully tightened after accident repair and moving making filings. Thanks so farGary Quote

Thanks so farGary Haynes is talking about the splash sheild under the car (if its still fitted!) which you will need to do to get at the gear stick end of the cables, i am suggesting you look at the top of the gearbox first where the cables operate, and thats directly under the battery.
