Essex Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Not sure if l have enquired about this before. The needle has for some reason found itself the other side of the pin. The speedo no longer works in the usual way however l have noticed when l reach a speed of approx. 70mph it jumps anti-clockwise to 90mph. Is this a common issue and easily fixed Many thanks Quote
mk2vr6 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 you pulled the plug on the back of the clocks lately? or disconnected the battery? this has been know to happen when you reconnect power to the clocks! the needle jumps around the display and sticks at the wrong side of the pin! try pulling the plug again and reconnecting it and see how you get on? Hi thanks for your responseI haven't pulled any plugs (wouldn't know where to start...lol) with regard to disconnecting the battery, this also has not taken place. I did notice the needle issue during a 200+ mile journey, l looked at the speedo and thought christ, l'm doing 90mph but when l slowed down the needle went down to beind the pin. Do you think disconnecting the battery may solve it? Many thanks Quote
bingo nightly Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) This happened to mine a couple of years ago. I turned the key one day and noticed the needle jump and later noticed it was the wrong side of the stop pin. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery does make it jump a bit but not enough, but it is easy to fix: I undid the retaining srews around the clocks assembly, drew the unit forward enough to clear the surround and simply turned the whole thing upside down to allow the needle to go back to the right position and put it all back again. Been fine ever since. I can't remember now if I needed to disconnect anything at the back to allow the unit to come forward enough but that would soon become obvious as you were doing it.
