dave030445 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 hi allhad gal for about 5 years now and the remote locking has never worked. I think water under seat problem, so i took it to fords and they said i didnt have enough keys. Think they said you need 3 and i only had 2, so did me another key. But still didnt work so after charging me Quote
big_kev Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 I think you have been robbed by Fords.....which is all too common. You only need 1 key .......its nice to have a spare though for obvious reasons. There could be a number of reasons why the light in the drivers door does not enter programming mode, some of which are related to the Control Unit and some which are not. Can you confirm that ordinary central locking works using the key in the door method. And can you also confirm that the door led works otherwise ok (apart from programming mode ) Quote

Yes the central locking works fine, and the light in the drivers door works as well Edited February 20, 2010 by dave030445 Quote
big_kev Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) A certain number of keys refers to the immobiliser (PATS) has whatsoever to do with remote locking .And its only 2 keys required not 3. Yours is an early model is it the infra-red remote or the radio type keys ? ie....what does it have written on the key.....Mhz etc. Edited February 20, 2010 by big_kev Quote

big_kev Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) hi all its got on the key is some numbers and letters g104 582c iwthats all i can see and von the stem of the key it has haa It is the Infra-Red version.......are you using the procedure below to programme the key... Self-diagnosis for central locking >07.97Checking infrared remote control or synchronizing vehicle keyIf a vehicle with infrared operation cannot be unlocked there is a distinct possibility that the code for key and control unit are no longer synchronized. This is possible if the key sender button is pressed several times outside of the range of the system. The vehicle key must then be resynchronized. The synchronizing sequence must not take longer than 20 seconds. If the vehicle is equipped with electric windows then the windows must be closed for the synchronizing sequence Insert key in door lock and turn 3 times (to unlock) The key must be held for 0.5 seconds in unlock position each time Remove key from door lock, press and hold key lock button and point key in direction of interior mirror within 5 seconds For checking procedure, the warning lamp lights up in driver's door trim panelPress unlock button 3 times then release lock buttonThe key is recoded. For checking, the warning lamp flashes in driver's door trim panel.Three further keys can additionally be coded. To do this the last two steps of the synchronizing sequence must be repeated. Synchronizing the second and all further keys must be started within 15 seconds of completing the previous synchronizing sequence. These sequences must also not take longer than 20 seconds.
