The aux water pump gone maybe??

This would mean the water is only being pumped around fast enough when the engine is running faster. Slow the engine and the water slows...

:( How many times do we have to say.....

What engine type, model, year?

We are not mind readers.

Probably a faulty water pump (detached plasic impeller) or a faulty thermostat (not closing fully).

I had this on my old bmw e36. Turned out to be air in the system. I found whilst sitting in it on a cold day watching some trackday racing it was blowing cold. However if i revved it slightly say 500rpm more it started to get warmer inside. I then bled a small amount of air out of the system and all fixed. Maybe worth a shot!!!

Crack open the pipes out of the top of the front heater matrix. Located to the left of the wiper motor.

aux water pump? coolant run on pump, located in the pipe work on the block to the rear of the coil pack, its in the return pipe work from the heater

not saying your main pump hasnt failed! first of replace the stat, cheap and fairly easy job then go from there, you can also check the operation of the after run pump to see if its still working? as you say the heater kicks out more heat when the engine is revving from that I would say that the main pump is the prime suspect!

does the rear heater still kick out plenty of heat? at low revs?

not all, the lower spec aspens didnt all have and it was an option on some others in the range to start with but a 97 ghia x? I would have expected it to be standard fit on such a higher specced model?

there will be vents floor level in the passenger rear quarter panel, two rotary controls on the head lineing above the C post passenger side and a push button on the center consule near the heater controls that has an out line of the Galaxy on it with heat haze!
