Nick Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 http://C Anyone had the wiper ball joint fail on the drivers side? How did you fix it? Ford want over Quote
Dave-G Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 :( Jeez...another member who thinks we are so clever we can determine his vehicle details from zero information...so I guess the best answer is no vehicle details = no answer :( I had it happen on my 98 SEAT Allhambra 1.9 TDI, but nick might mean an MG Midget,or maybe a Nissan primera or even a Wartbug Knight! :( B) well there loadsa diffrent cars it could be Quote
Tigger Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Now now. calm down. Are you on nights or do you just get up early? Quote
Nick Posted April 15, 2004 Author Report Posted April 15, 2004 Dave-G, thanks for pointing that out. I have a '97 1.9 TDi Ghia X FORD GALAXY. I'd be interested to hear how you fixed yours. There may have been a bit of a clue in that we are in the Technical Section (Galaxy)! Quote
NikpV Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Jeez...another member who thinks we are so clever we can determine his vehicle details from zero information...so I guess the best answer is no vehicle details = no answer Surely on the left where it says '1.9 TDi Ghia X FORD GALAXY 1997' under 'vehicle type' is a BIG BIG clue !!!! :( Quote
Nick Posted April 15, 2004 Author Report Posted April 15, 2004 Easy NikpV, I added those details after the headsup from Dave-G :( Quote
Tigger Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Think you will find that was not there first thing, but has just changed? Quote
Dave-G Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 :P All is forgiven...to both nicks! Yup I was out at night at the time, yup it was raining, as an emergency measure I held the steel ball into the rubber socket with a rubber band...I KNOW that sounds iffy if you are unfamiliar with this coupling type ,but the load path was in a different direction to the laggie band. I kept forgetting about this in the dry , used it again several times in rain untill eventually getting it fixed at main dealership 'cos it looked too complicated for me Quote
Nick Posted April 15, 2004 Author Report Posted April 15, 2004 Did the same thing for a while with the rubber band - not a very elegant solution  What did the stealership run you on that repair? I'm just replacing the rubber band, again! Quote
Dave-G Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004  I cant find any of the documentation on that [twas 4 yrs ago], And I'm sorry but I cant remember how much it cost in total, although I seem to recall having to buy an entire linkage set at about Quote
7up Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yep had this happen on my 98 galaxy a few months back.Got the whole new wiper linkage from fords, changed it all over in about 2 hours useing the hanyes book.No big probs just follow the book Quote
