Which Vag Com Lead?

Looking for a vag com lead and software. There are about a million on ebay that all look pretty much the same. Is there a particular one for an 05 Tdi?

Already did, but all the posts that contain ebay links the items are all expired or removed.

ah ha,thought there was a post telling the specific lead that is required?

It's a MK2 so should it not just be a standard KKL lead?

 

Or did they change the Shalaxy's over to CAN before the 3rd revision of the Sharan/Alhambra and the MK2 Galaxy was put out to pasture? (which has never been cleared up I think).

 

 

This is like the one I bought, good quality feel and look. I only I paid

The socket is located just under the fusebox panel, big purple connector nothing covering it (not on mine anyway!)

 

I got my problems resolved by using an XP laptop instead of a Vista one & updating the drivers using the site Big_Kev (I think it was him) pointed me in the direction of. Then also connected it to the car, other directions (from another site) that I was following said the cable would be picked up while not attached to the car - you must have it

plugged in then turn the key over to ON or start the car up.

Sorry for the hijack but can anyone recommend a vagcom lead and software to suit the ford petrol engined galaxy, already have the elm setup for engine but would like the vagcom for the abs and airbag etc ?

Thanks ,am sending for one,can yours activate the towing indicator light on the cluster so I can get rid of the annoying beeper in the boot lol

munter's cable should work ok.

 

Remember folks to check that the com port VAGcom software is set to is the same as the com port Windows (XP works better) sets up for the cable.

 

Also if you installed the drivers that came with the cable and it didn't work, you need to uninstall wrong drivers first then use the drivers Jayton pointed out at

Have got the lead and disc,it wouldnt load using XP put it on a memory stick and it loaded from that but it might as well be chinese as I connected it to the purple doodah by the fusebox,turned key on and nothing,then it started raining.Can anyone put a few notes for idiots or is there anyone near to Daventry that I could visit to show me how to start I,m Ok on the spanners but could throw the laptop out the window.

Hi Sorry but I've read this thread (and others) and confused myself

 

I am looking for a vag com for a 12/04 tdi. There was a suggestion earlier that the later ones may have changed to CAN bus?

 

How can I tell what I have? Can you tell from the connector?
