Ok now I am stressed. I have just got the turbo of my 1.9 TDi 115BHP (AUY) Galaxy and found the turbo failure was far worse than I thought.

The shaft has snapped and the blades on the air input side have touched the housing and broken some of them off. I have had all the intercooler pipes off and blown air though the intercooler but they are now where to be found. Perhaps at that high RPM they didn't snap but rather disintegrated into tiny parts and passed harmlessly though the combustion chamber?

I will finish it tomorrow morning and try it anyway but if anyone has any input I would appreciate it........

It'll be worth changing the oil & filter before firing it up after replacing the turbo in case there are fillings of metal in the oil. Cleaning the entire intake & exhaust system would probably also be a good idea, remove the cat if you can to stop any metal fillings getting in it.

Hopefully the bores are still good and you don't have any problems afterwards
