What engine code?

EDIT: removed the engine codes I listed as they didn't come in 110bhp.

Does any body know where the fuel stop solenoid is on a 110 bhp diesel galaxy?

At the front, centre of the engine bay....should be obvious...one of the few easy bits to get at.

Engine code is AFN its a 99 model, is it something that can be changed by a DIYer? Big Kev has suggested its at the front of the engine in the middle??

Silly question I guess .... but why are you changing it ?

I have power loss, tried all the usual stuff Maf sensor replaced, all small vacuum hoses replaced to turbo actuator etc, egr valve removed cleaned checked refitted, turbo actuator checked for movement that was okay. Jayton had a similar problem with his GTD and it turned out to be a loose connection to the fuel stop solenoid on his car so I thought I would check this next. I dont neccessarily want to change it just check the wire to it.

I had a problem with the solenoid that vag com keep reporting. In the end i just removed the whole thing, took out the spring and put back on car. Vag com never complained again and also car works fine. Its location is to the right hand side of fuel pump with 1 wire to it held on by a little 6mm nut.

Cheers for that, did you have power loss when yours was playing up? does it shut the fuel off when you turn the engine off or does it regulate the amount of fuel getting to fuel pump aswell?? Edited by westytwo

Yes had power loss. turned out to be the maf after all. I didnt know until i got a full version of vag com that let me use testing block to see the expected and actal air flow rate.

Had no problems with the engine shutting off. I did expect to have to stall the car when i took it out but 4 years later and has never had a problem.

Dont know if it regulates fuel but i would doubt it as it stems to be on or off...

The clarify my power loss was complete power loss and the engine would not start up afterwards, not just a lack of power.

Make sure the wiring to the needle lift sensor is OK. Mine went wrong and the car was stuck in limp mode until I fixed it.

Hi where is the needle lift sensor? Is it on the 3rd injector? Did you have total power loss or did you occasionally get full power? Thanks for your help.

I had intermittent misfiring at particular revs for a bit, then a couple of hours of the fuel cutoff solenoid dropping out every few minutes (a load of fun that was!) plus a permanent lack of power. After limping home and consulting VAGCOM, the needle lift sensor wiring was fingered and fixed. No problems since then.
