Well... after much searching for a Galaxy Ghia, we found a 2.8 V6 X-2001 on autotrader and managed to get it for

mmmm, dont want to rain on your parade, but you sure this was a bargain???

just read up on here about 'air con' and you will soon realize that this might not be a cheap fix, rather an expensive 1.flashing control unit usually means air con recharge needed.

gearbox/clutch problems are also not a cheap fix.again read up on here.

you say you got it from a dealer?any warranty on the car?

if not give it some thought, coz you could reject the car????

Thanks for the quick reply !!

Definitely not so sure on the whole 'bargain' thing anymore !!!

I'm really gutted, as it's immaculate cosmetically, and has only just passed 100k :(

We'v paid for it, and signed 'sold as seen', so I don't know if we could just take it back and demand money back?? Also, I have spoken to the dealer today, and he asked me to send him the quote for the Cat, and he'll 'sort it out'. If he gives me back the money for that, then fair play !!

So the flashing means re-gas the aircon? If we have this done, will the fans then turn ?? They don't do anything at the mo.

Gears are fine... in neutral, free pedals = rhythmic clunky noise.. clutch down = quiet.. hubby said thrust bearing ??... means nowt to me !! lol

not an expert, but im sure a dealer selling sold as seen is basically doing so to try and remove himself from the legal duty of sale of goods act.

im sure ive read that this WILL NOT STAND UP IN A COURT OF LAW.

plz plz contact the relevent peeps for advice.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentciti...ights/DG_182935

and this 1

under the sale of goods at(iirc)you have 28 days to reject the car,but again do your reserch first and do it quickly, time is of the essence.

hth a bit.

Cheers Gregers !!

Have had a gander about rights. I'm going to push for him to get the Cat and the Heater/AC working, and if not satisfactorily resolved, can still ask for full refund.

Wish me luck !!

I'll keep you posted.

make sure you phone the right people up,forearmed is forewarned etc

that way when the dealer tries to backtrack BECAUSE HE WILL,then you can say THE LAW STATES THIS AND THAT,and

yes keep us posted.

Just bought a 2001 V6 Galaxy Ghia... help and advice needed

Not sure, but I think you can get psychological counselling on the NHS nowadays.... :(

Ignore Sepulchrave, he drives a V6 and as such is certifiably insane :D

Ignore Gregers, he's still getting over the loss of his dog. (More probably the VET bills) :D

But seriously.....best advice is read the faq, use the search and STOP USING BOLD FACE!

Its all on here somewhere.

sep i hope im am wrong, buying any new/used car is a lot of money and hard work, what i have been trying to say is get as much info(legally)and then once armed then they can decide what the best course of action is.

i agree this forum is full of easy fixes etc where peeps can keep there hard earned in there pockets, its saved me a fortune.

i for one wouldnt want to be in the position of having to fork out serious dosh if the new car you have bought turns out to be a lemon.

if they have bought a car on the understanding that only a few minor things dont work i think i would be a little peeved in then finding out that its going to cost lots to get right.

thats why i have said read up on here about the problems, then they can make the correct decision on what to do.

i hope it turns out to be really cheap in getting these things sorted, but then again if not im sure you might want to help pay for the repairs if they take there time in getting the advice needed :( :D

and hey if i could afford to put the petrol in even i might like to have a vr6.............but then again.

This is what I've now sent to him................

"" Dear Mr *******,

Please accept this as a formal letter concerning the Galaxy you sold us on the 29th January 2010.

As previously discussed, we bought this car, trusting the information that you gave us. You said the only fault with the car was the drivers window motor. However, upon receiving the vehicle, there are quite a number of other, major, faults that have shown up.

Firstly, the car has a flat tyre on the rear drivers side. It was flat on arrival, we filled it up, and this morning it is flat again.

Also there is the issue of the exhaust, which you say you told us about, but you most certainly didn't. You knew that we were on an extremely tight budget, and if it was known to us the extent of work that needs to be done to this car to have it driveable, we wouldn't have purchased it in the first place.

I spent extensive time reviewing the problems that the car has, and spoke to 3 local parts suppliers, and 2 ford dealers.

I've managed to get a better price for the Catalytic converter, but it also needs new a new Lambda Sensor,

and new Coil Packs =

Just looked at the hedgehog, and it's pristine... all the prongs are perfect and unmarked.... does this mean it's ok.. ?

No.

You can't tell by looking.

Just replace it.
