ricki Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Anybody know where this pipe goes it comes in from the engine bay above accelerator pedal, goes up and now is dangling next to the clutch pedal. The pipe blow air and when accelerator is pressed the the pipe blows more air. See pics below Any help gratefully recieved. Thanks Quote
mk2vr6 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 you have Tdi so its not cruise control related, climate control or rotary dials? if rotary then see if the recirc option on the ventilation is working? and you sure its blowing not sucking? Quote
seatkid Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Early Tdis have the turbo boost sensor in the ECU which is located inside the car (IIRC behind dash somewhere or under the drivers seat - not sure) This is probably the pipe connecting the boost pipework (the large diameter ones to the intercooler) to the ECU - it maybe come off a joint in the pipework leading to the ecu, or the ecu itself. With it disconnected you probably find the turbo not working and the engine develops little power (struggling to get to 70 etc) Edited January 27, 2010 by seatkid Quote

Why cant it be cruise control> Dont TDis Fords have them? My SEAT is a TDi and has CC. To me its a CC pipe and should be going up the steering column to the CC control. Quote

nandj Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 OK, I stand corrected, so is it an airtube or not? Quote
mk2vr6 Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 I would have to agree with seatkid on this and say its the air line for the air intake charge pressure sensor, the other end of the hose when it appears in the engine bay should be connected to the pipe inbetween the intercooler and intake manifold on lhd side of the engine bay near the intake temp sensor, it maybe worth while for the op to trace the source of the pipe? that way we will know for sure, if it is then it connects to the main ecu as the pressure sensor is part of that Quote
TeamGreen Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 I've just been looking my 98 TDi as I get a hissing noise from behind the dash / footwell area and this hose goes to my ECU. I've taken off the lower dash trim and also taken out the clocks and when you look inside to the ECU it is connected at the back left side of it. I'm not sure if you'll need to undo any of the ECU fixings to reconnect it though as mine was still firmly attatched. Couldn't find any holes in my hoses so I'm going to take the ECU out when the weather next permits. If you do have a go at this just make sure you disconnect the battery first. Quote
