dave030445 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 hi all is there a test you can do to see if the water pump is not working properly while it is still on the car the problem is heater only blows out hot when you rev it if sitting in traffic it blows cold so someone said it could be the water pump as its a big job to remove on the 2.8v6 was hoping to do a test any help chaps cheers Dave Quote
tim-spam Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 If the heater works with the engine under load, this would suggest that the water pump is working. The fact that it cools down at idle would point to the thermostat being the problem. Quote

Could be an airlock above the heater matrix. If the car is fitted with the infamous plastic impeller pump, then the impeller becomes detached from the shaft usually causing overheating problems.
