reenie9273 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Hi, I have just purchased a Ford Galaxy GLX (auto) 2.3. I removed the rear two seats last weekend and am having trouble putting them back in. Took it to a local ford garage and asked for some advice but they were not interested. We have read the manual and I am sure its pretty easy but I just cant seem to get it. If anyone can give me some advice I would be very grateful. Quote
chromedome Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 It's hard to explain, but.................. There are two long bars under the seat that run across the width of the seat. With the lug located in the floor socket squeeze the two bars together to release the locking catch and the seat should drop into the floor socket. Quote
big_kev Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 If anyone can give me some advice I would be very grateful. They fit exactly the same as the middle ones.......practice your technique on them.. ;) Also if you have shoved the middle seats fully back you may have difficulty fitting the rear seats unless you slide them forward a bit. You may need to "slam " the back of the seat down for it to engage in the locking catches.......or is that just in older ones like mine . ;) .....but make sure the front catches have engaged properly first. Richard gal Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) Remove the head rests and tip front seats forward for the easiest way You also need to make sure the catches are going in the correct place while gripping the bars together. Edited January 23, 2010 by Richard gal Quote
bingo nightly Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I find the rear seats are difficult to get back in unless the middle row are tipped up first. No need to fold them just unlock them and let them swing up a bit to give yourself a bit more room to get the back ones clicked in. Quote
Jayton Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Ah I had the job of putting them back in this weekend... Take the head rests off.Collapse the seat's backrest forwards so it's folded.squeeze the two bars together that are near the front of the seat on the undersidetilt the seat up on it's front so the catches are over the holes in the floor, whack the seat so they go in.Release the two bars from under the chair and pull the seat down to the normal position and make sure the rear catches lock in. That's just from memory and may not be the best way/missing something.hth. Jay Quote
seatkid Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) Wusses :) 1. Fold the seats in the middle row down. 2. Tip the seats in the middle row forward (Pull the ribbon under the rear of the seats or use the lever at the side/bottom of the seat to release the seats to tip) 3. The seat(s) to be fitted needs to be folded and it head rest placed in lowest position. 4. pick the seat up using the short bar at the rear of the seat squab (i.e the rear of the seat) 5. Offer the front end of the seat that is hanging down over the forward 2 mounting points and let it rest on them. 6. Squeeze the release bar together under the seat and the front two seat latches should drop into the mounting points and engage. 7. Pull the rear end of the seat down firmly to engage the rear two points. Better if someone took step by step pictures....... Edited February 3, 2010 by seatkid Quote
