blanco Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Hi , Driving home tonight and battery light came on followed by lack of power steering, turned the engine off then back on again for a clicking sound to start as i turned the key and would not start . lights still come on on the dash can anyone help kay . :( Quote
Jayton Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 (edited) Check the alternator belt! It could be the belt has snapped and now drained the battery almost flat, but not enough to stop the dash lights to come on. It could also be the alternator/connection to the alternator thus stopping the battery from getting charged. Edited January 16, 2010 by Jayton Quote

mikej Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Make sure your engine bay fuse box hasn't started to melt as this is a very very common ( the small one in front of the battery) open it up and check it's all good, this is what happened to mine before it all went t1ts up ! it could be nothing more than a worn belt as there is no adjustment on the 2.3 but the fuse box will also flag up your battery light, mind you so will a u/s alternator ! :( Quote
