supersi1980 Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) hi got into my car once again this morning for the kids run and have problems starting when you turn the key the starter will engage and turn but snow then will cut out and nothing will happen for a minute or so and will either do it again or will start but its doing my head in and dont know where to look first please helpcheers Simon B) its not the first time it has happend as it happens all the time even before the cold weatherooops sorry its a 2.3 petrol Edited January 14, 2010 by supersi1980 Quote

seatkid Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Do all the dash lights go very dim when starting? 1. Check whether your alternator is charging (14.0 - 14.5 volts at battery terminals with all lights on and engine running at 1500rpm) 2. Then check if you need a new battery (> 12.2 volts at battery terminals after car has been switched off stood for at least 1hour, if not then take to a battery shop [garage/motor factors etc] and ask for a battery test, they should test it for free) 3. Could be a faulty starter motor. Quote
supersi1980 Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 cheers quys think we found the problem they reckon dodgy battery tested 52% so now replaced so we got our fingers crossed for tomoz morning they said it was the amps have halfed from 480>280 Quote
