barachello Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Hi all, back again with a query Sad There was an oil leak from my Gal when I bought it. The oil was running down the back of the oil filter and dripping off it onto the ground - nothing too severe. I had thought that maybe it had been a poorly fitted or damaged oil filter, and so replaced it as normal when I did a quick service. Unfortunately the leak is still there, again, not very bad, but I know it is there, and so annoying http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa109/barachello/DSC00400.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa109/barachello/DSC00401-1.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa109/barachello/DSC00402.jpg Any help, as always, very much appreciated Quote
seatkid Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I would wipe it all clean (I use brake cleaner aerosol) - then check it carefully after a run to determine the EXACT point of leak. If its from the sensor (bit with the wire), see if it unscrews, It may be loose. If its around the oil filter housing (e.g. around the joint in the pic) then it may need to be replaced if you find the leak unacceptable. Could be pricey though to replace. Might be repairable with gasket goo. Quote
barachello Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 I find it strange that the oil appears to be pretty much all around the housing, but only one real indication from the right hand side of the sensor. I never thought about trying instant gasket around it, thanks will keep it in mind. Will try to give it a good clean tomorrow, and see what happens. Quote
jipninty Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 its porberly from crank case breather pipe above oil filter dont over tighten it will brake and get worse Quote
